As Principal I take great pride in leading the school and supporting the students in their educational journey. The school motto, ‘Learning for Life,’ sits at the centre of my own educational philosophy and influences all that we do as a school. I believe our family friendly school is our unique selling point, where the staff know each and every child, and work hard to unlock their future potential. Our staff have strong subject knowledge and an enthusiasm for their curriculum area that engages and ignites the passion for knowledge and learning in students from the very first day. I also firmly believe, as a parent myself, that if something is not good enough for my children then it certainly is not good enough for anyone else.
Welland Park Academy is a vibrant, popular and high performing 11 – 16 Community College serving the lovely, historic town of Market Harborough and South Leicestershire. We have continued to invest in our curriculum areas and in our site, in order to secure the best outcomes for our students. In recent years, we have invested over two million pounds in developing our sporting, catering and design-technology facilities. When you visit our site, you will see that we want nothing but the best for our students.
Everything we do here at Welland Park Academy is devoted to ensuring that our young people feel safe, are happy and leave with the best outcomes possible. We work relentlessly to nurture our students to unlock and achieve their potential. Our students are actively encouraged to make a valuable contribution to society and thrive in a mutually supportive environment. All of our students are educated to enter the adult world with a strong moral compass, a real sense of resilience and to be armed with the key transferable skills that will allow them to succeed in an ever changing and fast paced globalised labour market. Our innovative curriculum and extensive extra-curricular programme enables them to gain the highest qualifications, acquire flexible life-long learning skills, and be ready to act responsibly as global citizens. We also promote the social, moral, spiritual and cultural development of our students, including a recognition and understanding of Fundamental British Values.
We believe that children are most successful when the school, child and parent/carer work together as a three. Therefore, we invest a lot of time working alongside parents to ensure they know what is going on with their child. Underpinning all that we do are incredibly high expectations, and a crucial person in any student’s school career is their form tutor. Parents are actively encouraged to develop a professional working relationship with this key advocate for their child.
